The
voivodeship self-government defines the strategy and realises
the tasks concerning the whole voivodeship development.
The main task of the voivodeship authorities is to create
conditions for the region development, to work up regional
policy and to perform public tasks. It refers in particular
to public education, health care, culture and protection
of its values, social assistance, rural areas modernisation,
spatial planning, environment protection, collective transport
and public roads, physical education and tourism and public
safety.
The voivodeship
self-government proclaims the local law rules, obligatory
in the voivodeship`s area, performs public tasks in its
own name and on its own responsibility, disposes its own
property and carries on financial management by itself.
It has a legal status.
The voivodeship
self-government body is called a Sejmik (regional
parliament) and counts 33 councillors elected every four
years in direct election. |

The
Voivodeship Self-government executive organ is the Voivodeship
Board elected by the Sejmik every four years. The Board
is made up of the Voivodeship Marshal as the President
of the Board, two Vice-Marshals and two members of the
Board.
